Southern Area Hospice Services (SAHS) provides invaluable support and care to people living within the Southern Health and Social Care Trust Area. They aim to provide the highest standard of specialist palliative care to individuals with complex life-limiting conditions, irrespective of their condition or place of care.
They provide wrap-around support for their physical, emotional and social needs, and will also support their families through this process. They ensure that care is centred around the individual’s wishes and needs, supporting them from the point of diagnosis and helping them to live well with their condition.
All SAHS services are provided free of charge and rely heavily on voluntary donations to continue providing their special care.
Whilst Hospice does receive some annual financial support from the Department of Health, they rely heavily on fundraising. This year they need to fundraise in excess of £3.6 million, which is apx:
£300,000 per month,
£69,230 per week,
£9,863 per day,
£410 per hour.
They need to raise these funds to enable them to continue to provide care and support to patients and their families, many whom have been loved ones or personal friends to many in the local pigeon fraternity.
